SINAMKOL
A Story of Survival and Resistance
Sinamkol is a powerful feature film that follows the journey of an extraordinary Tamil Eelam patriot struggling to find balance in a post-conflict world. Set in the aftermath of the 2009 civil war in Sri Lanka, the film explores the lingering impact of war on identity, land, and dignity, long after the guns have fallen silent. Through deeply human storytelling, Sinamkol reflects the frustration, sorrow, and resilience of individuals living under continued military presence in the North and East, where displacement and loss remain unresolved realities.
Directed and written by Ranjith Joseph, Sinamkol is more than a narrative—it is a cinematic document that gives voice to survivors and forgotten stories. The film sheds light on planned deterioration of ancestral lands, unreturned properties, and the emotional scars carried by a community seeking justice and recognition. With an intense performance by Aravindhan and a haunting musical score by N. R. Raghunanthan, Sinamkol stands as a call to the international community to listen, understand, and acknowledge the pain endured by those living in the shadows of conflict.
